Non-governmental organisations from across the globe have come out in support of a proposal submitted by the Group of Friends of Development (FoD) for a development agenda at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)." Some 99 organisations have supported the demand, at the time of writing..


Making a compelling case backed by arguments on diverse fronts, a five-point statement calls for amending the WIPO convention and including a specific "development dimension, consistent with WIPO’s obligation as a UN agency". It also calls for elaboration of a treaty on access to knowledge and technology
